Because I Said So

"Why do I have to get up now?  Its only 9'o'clock!" 
"Why do I have to do my school work now:? Can't I wait another 30 minutes to start?" 
"Why do I have to take the dogs out, I just did that an hour ago?"
"Why can't I have ice cream before I eat lunch mommy?"
"Why can't I go outside and play?"
"Why can't I wear shorts today?  The high is 60 *?"
"Why do I have to take that medicine?"

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY???

I wish I had a $1 for every single time that my kids asked me WHY--I'd be
rollin in $$$!

The answer is simple though.  Because I said so!  Because I am the mom
in the house and YOU(my kids) are not.  Because I am the one who does all
of the laundry, housework, grocery shopping, etc.

I have a sign in my kitchen that says "Because I said so!"  Its been in here for a couple
of years now.  I saw it when I was in a local store here where I live.  I love to go in to
this store(CATO) and look on their clearance racks.  They always have some super
deals on stuff and its just too good to pass up most of the time.  The sign Im talking
about, I paid a whopping $2 for it.  

I was sitting here at my dining room table, working on a plethora of things: grading school work,
making a Bible test from the workbook my son just completed today, more grading, looking at pics, working on my blog and the way it looks, and oh ya--more grading.  I can't just sit here and do ONE thing,
but it is always a variety of things.

I stopped for a second, I can't remember why now.  But I looked up and saw that sign.  It was almost
like it was screaming at me.  In a VERY loud voice, the words just seem to come off the board.
BECAUSE I SAID SO!  

Think about those 4 little words.  How many times in one day, do we say that to our kids?  Or maybe to a friend,  an acquaintance, co-worker, family member, and last but certainly not least, the Lord? 
How many times througout the day do we hear the Lord whisper in our ear, "Spend some time with me?"
"Why?" is what we ask.  "Why, do I have to do it right now?"  "Why can't I do it later?"  "Why can't I go
watch this tv show first?  Why can't I play this game firsts?  Why can't I play on the computer(Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc) first?????

The answer is simple.  Because He says we need to spend time with Him in his word.  He says we need to
spend time worshiping Him in song. Psalm 100:2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.  Psalm 100:1-3 (in Context) Psalm 100 (Whole Chapter)

He wants us to spend time with Him, reading His word, singing songs of praise, praying and pouring out our hearts to Him.  But instead we get lazy, and we say, Why?  And then you know what the answer is:  "Because I said so!"    Because my Jesus says so. 

I myself am guilty of NOT having a quiet time every morning.  But, I would rather do it before bed.  It 
helps me to sleep, sometimes. Im guilting of not getting up first thing of a morning and praising Him for the 
new day that He's given to me.  Its always rush rush rush it seems.   What I need to be doing, is reminding myself to do these things, Because the Lord, says so!"
